Diving into the depth of the movie “ The Matrix.”

Few years back, I remember watching “The Matrix” at home on DVD, which left me with confusion and some brain twisting feeling. Like many, I was partially taken by Hollywood’s special effects and unusual plot. But I could not tell you what it was about. I understood some concepts but did not see the “entire picture”. I also remember guys commenting on cool fighting scenes and other futuristic elements of the movie.

But now I see so much that I am exploding to share the knowledge. What Awareness brings me today, is absolutely priceless. It gives the ability not only see the depth, but the width and all other dimensions of the story. And this movie is precisely about that: gaining Awareness, changing prospectives and seeing the Truth. Its somewhat instructional in nature. But, lets analyze it step by step. It will spark you analytical powers and tickle your intelligence.

The movie starts with numbers, which sets its tone. Numbers are very powerful, divine tools accessing “The Higher Knowledge”. They are symbolic and hold lots of meaning. Understanding numbers you can create unimaginable. Nicola Tesla believed in power of numbers 3,6,9. With numbers we create bridges that connect lands, design airplanes and rockets that fly around the world and beyond, build shelters, high-scrapers, pyramids, telescopes that give us small prospect onto the vast Cosmic Space. “Bible” is full of numbers, its numeric code to knowledge beyond our human understanding of stories and words. So, numbers are very Important.

Room 101 - Neo’s place. Its symbol for number 1, beginning, basics, start. It also references to the phrase “The One,” as it laters becomes in question. Is Neo the one who can save the world or not the one?

Room 303 - Trinity’s place. Number 3 is more powerful because it has 3 x1. It is a symbol of Powerful Triad in Christianity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Unity of Mind, Body and Spirit; Birth, Growth and Death. 3 plus 3 is 6. Number 6 is symbol for Mother Nature, Gaia and Venus, Goddess of Love, and its feminine in nature.

Throughout the movie, there is reference to numbers like 555. Five is higher than 3 and 4 which symbolizes changes and its very dynamic number.

$2000, amount Neo gets paid for his services, where 2 is the symbol of diplomacy.

Number 9 - the most powerful number, comes much later. 9 is a symbol of Karma, soul’s purpose, enlightenment, and spiritual awakening.

Lets look at names of the characters. All have direct and powerful meaning.

“Neo”- the protagonist, means “New”, “Renewed”, who literally gets revived with electricity, takes his first breath, like newborn baby, in the slimy artificial red womb, drops in the water (the birth canal) and then extracted by the robotic hand into the new reality.

“Trinity” - protagonist’s the other half. It means 3, unity of Body, Mind and Spirit. Goddess of Love.

“Morpheus” - Greek God of Dreams, with ability to take on human form and appear in dreams. Everything he says is powerful, meaningful and wise. Why? Because he is Neo’s Consciousness. His ship made in 2069 (thats not coincidence) called Nebuchadnezza (III) which is referring to Neo Babylonian ruler who rebelled against regime and took over Darius in 522 BC. Morpheus is a rebel, a symbol of a “new way of thinking” who sees the world differently and “believes” he can change it. He tells Neo he first gained his awareness from a “teacher”, someone very influential like Jesus, or Mohamed, but there is no reference to religion in the movie, because conscious (spiritual) awakening comes in many form, which is beyond religion in a sense of a human understanding.

“Oracle” - A highly regarded, divine, wise person who delivers obscure but influential premonitions.

“Cypher” - (Cipher) - which literally means a way to write a secret code, or transmit messages in secrecy.

“Mouse” - moves cursor around the screen, small rodent with big ears and eyes, insignificant, scared, cute, little creature.

“Agent Smith” - primary antagonist, common last name, means anyone. Agent, is a person who acts on behalf of another, representing their interests. Agent Smith is a secret agent, who wants to obtain vital information any way’s possible.

And you get the point.

Next, sunglasses. Have you wandered why? All agents appear in sunglasses, including Morpheus, Trinity and all characters except Neo at the beginning. Sunglasses is a symbol of spiritual awakening and ability to see things that others don't, development of the 3d eye, seeing the truth inside self. All “bad guys” wear them, because they know and they don't want anyone to become aware and have access to that same Great Powerful Knowledge.

Lets see the Process of gaining that Conscious Awareness.

Its starts with a SIGN.

“Follow the White Rabbit” is the first message Neo receives. Neo has to trust the message and take a different path, which leads him to the awakening. Like “Alice in Wanderland” follows her white rabbit down the hole of a new reality, Neo has to open his mind to induce new state of consciousness and be receptive to see a different world.

Word “the City” reference in many ways. “The heart of the city hotel” and “The City” Phone Book, which means all this is happening in any city where you live.

Neo places money in the book called “Simulacrum and Simulation” and opens page on “Nihilism,” a chapter on “life without purpose”. Its a very philosophical book.

All major transformations and changes happen through two mediums: water and electricity. Rainy stormy weather when Neo gets inside of a taxi, a water in a glass for him to take pills, slimy watery substance, electrical chairs, electrical cables, electrical bugs, computers, Phone Booths and old phones (electro-magnetic waves) - all powerful mediums to transfer and communicate from one reality to next. Human body is 80% of water and 99% electricity. Human thoughts are frequencies, waves, electricity with ability to transform, communicate and create matter. Human body has electrical elements like copper, aluminum, and zinc to transmit electrical signals.

Trinity seeks out Neo at the bar where Neo ends up following the message of the white rabbit. She whispers to his ear: “I know what you are looking for.” You think she talks about Morpheus, but, she really means Neo’s conciseness. Neo is looking for himself.

In preparations to meet Morpheus (Neo’s consciousness) for the first time, Trinity gives Neo suggestion: “The best advice I can give you when you speak with him is be true to yourself.” Basically, to see the truth and understand the truth, you have to be true to yourself first.

“Searching” - the word comes up many times. To find that state of awareness, consciousness, you have to start searching, asking questions. Who searches, finds it.

During first meeting between Neo and Morpheus, Morpheus asks important question: “Do you believe in fate?”

To which Neo replies: “No, because I’d like to think I am in control of my own life.”

New science of “Epigenetic”, suggest that you are in control of your own life and destiny. You can change genetics with consciousness which brings big change in the way we think, not a Victim but more like the Master of own destiny, own universe. Every person has ability to reverse genetics and transform physical body. Mind over matter.

Humans vs. computers is the main theme in the background, a very present fear. Fear of computers dictating our future, controlling lives is real, and its here. Humans have passively given control of their lives to someone else: machines, government, “specialists, etc. And the way humanity looses it slowly through inability to think for themselves.

Neo, the main character, (who can be any of us), leads double life. On the surface, he is a programmer for prestigious corporation “Meta Cortex” (means beyond human mind) and in another life he is a hacker, which feels more true to him. But, all in all, he is not aligned with himself and not living to his full potential and his true purpose. He is restless and bored at his 9 to 5 job, but a great place to work according to society. So, he is suffering and confused, like may others, being torn between what he wants to do and what others dictate him to do.

He literally takes “Escape” route from corporate life, but fails to finish because he is not sure, not trusting and not believing in his own power and strength yet. So, he gets captured and tortured, a symbol of continuation of “suffering” without taking risk of the first step. But, at least he attempted and he gets a credit and continues to receive the support of his great “TEAM”.

Conversations between Neo and Morpheus, are intimate, one-on-one, and always on white background. They are clear, direct, with red chairs as contrast positioned in face-to-face dialogue manner. If you look closely, chairs are with Lion emblems. Lion is a symbol of bravery and unconsciousness in dreams.

Everything you see in that movie, symbolizes something important. Just like in life, nothing you see or meet, without a purpose. If you don't see, it means you just don't pay attention.

In one scene, Morpheus shows Neo “true” reality compared to “fake news” through “Radiola Deep Image” old TV, begin him to question if what he sees on TV every day is real truth.

Morpheus asks Neo: “What is reality? Define real…If you base what you can touch, feel and taste, see, than, yes thats real.” Reality he says is simply: “Electrical signals interpreted by your brain.”

Everyone creates their own reality with their mind, based on amount of knowledge possess at that time. The knowledge is formed by family, society, school, education, influences, culture, and past experiences. Each individual Knowledge grows and changes but its self limiting. The size of consciousness is like the size of a pip-hole on a door. Watch as Neo uses it at the beginning of the movie symbolically before he opens the door to strangers. With that “limiting” knowledge and consciousness of a pip-hole, and some people have bigger “holes” than others, but still a “hole”, we think that what we see THE REALITY, the entire picture. Our passion, desires gives power to thoughts which come from that limited state of consciousness and create “matter.” Some, like Nicola Tesla sees ideas of a microwave in numbers hidden in Bible, some sees beautiful music that they transform in notes, some take only selfies.

In the movie, there is a reference to a term called “residual self image” and its defined as a mental projection of the “digital self”. What it means is that each of us project our thoughts onto a space around us. Have you heard expression, your personal things are extensions of your personality? Tattoos are symbols of projections of inner world into own physical body. We project ourselves with writing, music, acts of services, religion, love, children, job, our beliefs.

People defend and protect their own reality. They want it to be the ONLY TRUE REALITY, and if its not taken seriously, it can ignite wars. Charismatic leaders like Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, all had grand realities in which they wanted to include entire world with a bit of a force. But if each of us expands pip-hole size of consciousness and become powerful, it prevents others to take advantage of our weakness.

What is Matrix? In the movie, it defined as “Neuro interactive simulation”. Matrix is a “fake” reality”, in a sense, its not True. It references to Current State of Collective Narrow Minded reality in United States. Its artificial because its created on false knowledge and limited Consciousness. Its a small fake projection of the world beyond which we are oblivious to see. Like a country, its a system fed from inside with fake ideas, fake information, fake healing ideas, ideas of wealth and worth, fake actions, fake education, fake feeling of safety and freedom. And like any collectively created world of ideas, it has organized system of control, rules, borders, law and order. Matrix is a deceiving reality, and the gates to and from are controlled by “Few”. Don't you want to know who are they? Who’s interest’s the Agents in the movie represent? The reality is “fake” or “artificial” because outside of it, there is real War. War for resources, War for Power and Real Knowledge. And these “Few” don't want you to know. Because its easy to control the Matrix full of blind, powerless and fearful citizens.

And thus, Morpheus’s message to Neo (and all of us): “Wake up, you are living in a dream world. There is war and destruction happening everywhere around you.”

We gave away control to others, “Machines” and they seem to determine how and when to have fun, what to read, what to watch, when to go on vacation, what hours we should be working, what to buy, what is “cool”, how much anything is worth, without questioning a thing. We used to be delivered easily to digest simple information and answers, because we are busy with other things than reading and deducting the truth by ourselves.

Depleted solar energy in a movie is a symbol for depletion of our main resources and reduction of Human Power to a12 V battery. The main fight is over energy and its control. Google for yourself, what corporations have the most power and money and why.

About food. Morpheus says: “Look what we feed humans? We liquify the dead and feed it into the living.” What he says Its true. We eat Dead flesh. Dead animals. Coca Cola products use human embryos, so, we kind of eat each other. Coca Cola is the largest money making powerful corporation, because they know how to make their product addicting and taste great. All at your health’s cost. And the future for us, with all the genetic engineering, is being grown not being born, unfortunately what Morpheus is predicting, a horrible truth to which Neo explode: “No, I don't believe it!”

Neo is exhausted, brought back with old “alternative” treatments which looked similar to Acupuncture. He is having hard time sleeping, after being reborn, seeing the “truth”, and gaining “baby consciousness”. “But, if you could, would you really want to?” Asks Morpheus whether he would want to go back. He also adds that in first stages of awareness: “The mind has trouble of letting go.”

“As long as the matrix exists the humans would never be really free.” says Morpheus. His main objective is to give Freedom and control to all people through Neo.

The clothing and colors in the story are all chosen well, all to make a better point, deliver the message more precisely, to contrast and compare.

Most of the actions are taken in dark, old rooms. Morpheus and his team wear old worn out clothing, with holes when they are in True Reality and nice clothing when they are in Matrix, because Matrix have shopping malls. Subway stations are dirty in Matrix. Oracle’s apartment in contrast is “homie”, clean and smells like cookies but her apartment is surrounded by decayed buildings. It represents “The Old” way of thinking in contrast to “new”.

Red chairs, for example, symbolize root chakras, vital energy, grounding force, connectedness to nature.

Morpheus's tie is natural green color, which represents heart chakra. When he speaks, he speaks with wisdom and love. He speaks from the heart, a good place.

Think why “bad guys” wear black ties with one silver line across and Police head badges have Star-of-David symbols.

“Zion” is referenced in the movie as the last human city with free thinking, naturally born humans, who, literally have no “holes”, “outlets” to be plugged in. Its a biblical place: Jerusalem, mount Zion. In Kabbalah, its a place where two realities merge, the holiest place, connection between “God” and humanity, the place of coming of “Messiah”. Bob Marley sings famous song “Zion train”. There, he described the current movement of changes. He wanted all of us to get on this train through the power of his music and love.

Next stage of preparing Neo for his “mission” to “save humanity” is combat training, a process of accelerated “relearning” and “downloading” real knowledge.

One of the tools to gain new wisdom, is “Ju-Jitsu”. Why? Its ancient Japanese knowledge of self defense. Symbolically it represents a knowledge you need to gain to fight and defend yourself to become strong and free. Its old true wisdom barely survived today, in Matrix.

Computer loading image of “Davinchi’s Vitruvian man on the screen is not a coincidence. It represents perfect human symmetry, divine cosmic form. Computer screen shows dials which look like crosses, with 7 numerals representing 7 steps or 7 days of Biblical World creation. Semicolons on the right side, blue and yellow colors, mean continuation of the story, not ending.

Downloading number sequences like 46141, 57094 on computer screen are there for a reason. See, if you can figure that out the consequences.

Next, just under 10 hours Neo studies “Kong-fu”, another symbol of action and wisdom gaining process. This time, its Chinese martial art of self defense which means “skill achieved” through hard work, endeavor and time spent.

When the time comes for Neo and Morpheus to test out Neo’s new wisdom and strength in simulated marshal art studio, Morpheus says: “Good things are”, (praising Neo’s new learned techniques), “your adaptation and improvisation. But the weakness is, its not YOUR technique.” What he means is that Neo just got exposed to the great knowledge but he has not “extracted”, “applied” or made it his own to be powerful.

When Neo and Morpheus are engaged in KungFu fight, Neo is wearing white robe. White represents Yang, male, active, and fast energy. In contrast, Morpheus (his consciousness) wears black robe, representing Yin, passive, slow, and wise female energy of a teacher. Its a concept of dual forces, opposite but complimentary energies inside each of us designed to be in a state of balanced harmony but at times fight in order to express hidden passions and desires, bringing the inner suppressed feelings to the surface, closer to the truth.

Wooden pole and rice mats of the “simulated” Kungfu room, bring feeling of serenity and connectedness to nature. In Chinese mythology, bamboo represents strength. Breaking wooden pole by Neo is a symbol of crashing through his first stage of growth.

Why Morpheus beats Neo on first round? “Has nothing to do with being stronger or faster”, he says. Don't think you are faster, know you are faster.” Knowing is the key. Many times Morpheus repeats the phrase: “Free your mind.” “I can only show you the Door (of knowledge) but you are the one who has to walk through it. Anyone wants to become Conscious, has to walk through the “door”, like Neo. Its not possible to show the end result. But, like Neo, you are never alone. There are many teachers. Just seek and ask.

Second tool of Neo’s combat training was “Jump” tape. Morpheus says: “You have to let it go Neo.. Fear, doubt.. and disbelieve.” Free your mind”, he repeats as he jumps from one building to another, covering a huge, seems impossible distance between. Notice, Morpheus wears sunglasses but not Neo. Neo is a newly reborn human and so, he fails to jump. Because half way in the flight, fear and doubts take over him. “But everybody falls the first time.” Tanks calms them down. Consciousness is gained slowly, don't be hard on yourself or be discouraged. Give it another try.

As Morpheus and Neo cross the street, what looks like absolutely “normal” everyday city busy life as seen today, (The Matrix), he says: “The system is our enemy, but when you inside, what do you see, carpenters, lawyers, teachers, the very people you are trying to save, but they are part of the system. You have to understand, most of the people are not ready to be unplugged, and many of them are hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect.”

Ok, lets talk about “Bad guys”, our and Neo’s enemies. “Agents” in the movie can move from one reality to next. They are “unplugged”, meaning they have no holes in the back of their skull, they seemed to be free. But are they? Even thought they wear sunglasses, the signs of “knowing”, they have a wire in connected to their right ear through which they receive information and orders. From whom? Who has control over them? What is the “other” type of communication we, humans (Neo and his team) seemed to be excluded in America? And whats being communicated?

But, even Agent Smith breaks down and cries (takes his sunglasses and unplugs his wire) later to Morpheus, which is symbolically speaking, a conversation with his consciousness, saying, that he is too, had enough of the slavery by doing “the job” in the name of the interests of another.

Agents have the key to the door from Matrix, the Gate to Cosmic Knowledge and Power. Morpheus says: “But sooner or later, someone has to fight them.”

Wachowki’s creative ability to deliver the message, to explain the concept of transformation, the process of gaining consciousness and the truth through symbols, short phrases, colors, numbers is exceptional. Lets look at some examples:

“Body cannot live without the mind.”

A hint on holiness, faith when Trinity was talking to Cypher by Neo’s door - Blue cross.

“STBY” words inside the elevator to Oracle’s place. STBY - “stand by” message.

Blind person in subway, red tiles, on seat its written “S/A” red letters.

The “plug” in their heads is literally in the back of their skull, which controls body movement, controlling spinal cord and nerve system of human body.

“Dejavu" - feeling of something you have seen before or experienced. Past life memories. In the movie, it means “they” changed something in the matrix, a program glitch.

Black cat - symbol of misfortune.

“Mulpha” - real Malaysian real estate company. Why? Dare to Google for yourself.

Woman in red dress, designed by Mouse, is symbol of desire, seduction, distraction, and surface attraction, basic human carnal need. She is fake, cheap decoy, a trap. Mouse and Trap, get it? Mouse explains that “To deny our own impulses is to deny the very nature that makes us humans.”

“EMP” term used here as - electromagnetic pulse - red button simulating ships rocket of destruction, a weapon, disables electromagnetic field, the only weapon Trinity says “we” have against the machines. Very interesting because Tesla hinted long time ago: “to think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

Cypher, the sleazy guy, gives Neo alcohol, hoping he would spill him the secrets of the universe, saying that: “Alcohol is only good for two things: greasing the engines and killing brain cells.” Stupidity= dead brain cells + alcohol. Matrix wants stupid people. But Neo is drinking from Aluminum cup. Aluminum resists corrosion.

Cypher represents that opportunistic type, the type that wants to be part of both worlds, and make a profit. “After nine years, you know what I realized,” he sys eating stake, “ignorance is a bliss”. “The matrix tells me that the meat is juicy and tastes great and I love it,” as he washes it dawn with glass of wine. It is filmed so well, made it so appetizing, just like Tv commercials we see. It makes all of us to run to a Steak house and indulge. And thats how the meat and other industries strive! It would be hard to make a plant dish to present appetizing. In the morning, as Neo pours a porridge-like-substance in his dish, very unappetizing, to which Dozer explains: “Its a synthetic single cell protein with amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Everything that body needs.” Which is very true. We starve our body with fake sugar, GMO, chemicals, preservatives, synthetically derives components, other unhealthy ingredients advertised with millions of dollars for you to believe its good for you.

Cypher says, as he strikes a deal with the Agent: “I want to remember nothing. I want to be reach, someone important, like an actor,” in exchange for secret about Zion. You have to like the humor!

Seeing the Oracle Woman brings lots of wisdom, as she looks into the future.

Neo admires lots of talented, “promising” children as he enters her house. She nurtures the future of humanity. Symbolically, these are the true gifted kids, with “weird” abilities whom we need to educate and protect. They know the wisdom and are connected to the truth. She explains:

“They are potentials.” Girl with cubics, she has ability to levitate objects. Boy - with ability to bend spoons. “Don’t try to bend the spoon, its impossible only to realize the truth.” He says to Neo. “What truth?” He asks confused. The boy replies: “That there is no spoon. Then you’ ll see, its not the spoon, its only ourselves.”

She bakes 6 cookies. You already know the meaning of number 6.

She tells Neo: “Sorry kiddo, but you are not the one. You have the gift but you are not the one Morpheus think you are.” She also adds: “You would have to choose between your life and Morpheus’s when the time comes.”

She predicts few minutes ahead that Neo would brake the vase. “Don’t worry about it,” as he accidentally smashes it on the floor. He asks her how did she know. And she says: “The real noodle to bake for you would be to ask if it was still be broken if I had not said anything.” Meaning when we observe the matter it acts differently. “Double slit experiment” in Quantum physics. This is very interesting subject to reflect.

She adds: “Morpheus believes in you, and, not me or you can convince him otherwise. He believes so blindly that he is going to sacrifice his life to save yours.” Believe is everything. It creates positive energy that can manifests in reality. Again, the emphasis on Believe.

And the most profound words she says are: “No-one can tell you when you are in love. You just know it, through and through, bones to bones.” Love what saves everything.

Neo leaves in disappointment because somehow, deep inside, he was starting to believe he was the one, but now he sees himself as nothing important, just a guy with a gift. Morpheus adds to Neo not to share any information with him, because its only for him to know. Neo asks Morpheus: “She is ever wrong?” And his reply: “Try not to think in terms of right or wrong.” “She is just the guide.”

As the story progress, we see Cypher finally gets cornered with his double agent life, he is angry, unhappy, trying to kill everyone, he is at war with himself. He says: “I am tried of eating same food, and listening to Morpheus (his conciseness).” But, Trinity is trying to reason back with him and says: “But, he gave you freedom.”

Agent Smith speaks with captured Morpheus as he watches people in Matrix from the roof top: “Have you ever marveled its beauty, genius, billions of people down there living their lives just oblivious?”

He continues: “I believe that human species denies their reality through misery and suffering. Once we started thinking for you, it became our civilization, and that is what really is all about.” As he is trying to break down Morpheus completely.

“I had a revaluation about your species while I spent time with you. I realized, you are not mammals because mammals instinctively develop natural equilibrium to their surrounding environment and you humans, do not. You multiply until all natural resources are consumed. There is another organism on this planet that follows same pattern, virus! Human beings are disease, cancer, plague of this planet.” Hard to hear but its another Truth! We are disease to this planet in the state of mind we are currently in.

He takes off glasses and unplugs his wire, and says: “I want to be honest with you Morpheus, I hate this place, this zoo, reality, I cannot stand it. I must get out of here, I must get free.” He as well, wants freedom.

Neo is finally awaken and takes the lead, he has “the guts” to go back to save Morpheus. He is going against his destiny, fully energized, and inspired by Morpheus’s belief in him. He says: “Nobody has ever done anything like this. That is why its going to work.” He starts to Really Believe in his own Power despite what Oracle had told him.

Notice, he is finally wears glasses like the rest of the crew. He is on the same level, transformed.

Neo surprised that he was able to save Morpheus despite Oracle’s predictions to which Morpheus says: “There is difference between knowing the path and walking the path.”

“What is happening with Neo?” Morpheus replies: “He is beginning to believe, he is the one!”

Did you believe in Neo or had doubts too?

The final fight between Agent Smith and Neo takes place in Subway by the column number #3. Not coincidence.

Neo gets shot in the heart. Trinity brings him back to life with her love

(like Oracle predicted) and a kiss, with sparks literally flying in the back ground, symbolizing energy needed to jump start life, emotions, ignite passion, love, enthusiasm, creativity and give the purpose realizing full potential. Neo wakes up with even more power than before, literally with ability to stop the bullets. The love is the true power to save humanity. Another simple message.

“Director and writer for The Matrix, Lana Wachowski, a trans woman, in 2012 received the Human Rights Campaign's Visibility Award. In her acceptance speech, she revealed that once during her youth, she had considered committing suicide because of her feelings of confusion about identity.”

This movie is a great interpretation of the Process becoming True to Self, aligning your soul purpose, gaining Cosmic Consciousness and Awareness though Universal Love, connecting to the Knowledge which gives absolute Freedom and Power beyond limits. The power and knowledge which should be accessible to all.

This Process is not an easy one, as it shown, not without struggles, tries, and failures, but its achievable, because Lana did it, others had done it. And what is seen on the other side is beautiful and powerful freedom. Anyone can be “The One”, just have to Believe and have enough Passion and Love to pursue it!

But first, we must learn how to LOVE!
